Ligand for APJ ReceptorApelin has been described as endogenous ligand for human APJ. Its pyroglutaminated C-terminal peptide [Pyr1]-Apelin-13 ( [pGlu]-Apelin-13 ) was more potent than Apelin-36 in competitive inhibition assays. This pyroglutaminated peptide shows in vivo very high vascular effects. [Pyr1]-Apelin-13 shows a clear vasodilation effect in man.
